Oregon Coast Photography Tour
About the tour
One of the most amazing coastlines in the world, the Oregon Coast will certainly impress you. From Pacific Ocean sunsets, to colorful lighthouses, tide pools full of critters, crashing waves, foggy harbors, and marine wildlife, we’ll never run out of subjects for our cameras.
Late August is a great time to visit the Oregon Coast. Warm days and cool nights sometimes create foggy conditions which add tons of atmospheric drama to Oregon Coast photos. Mostly clear skies are prevalent, and of course, the Pacific sunsets are always spectacular.
Wonderful state parks dot much of the coastline in Oregon and access is easy and free. We'll be based in two of the most dramatic areas where endless subjects will greet us every day. We'll visit places that Don knows well, where wildlife is approachable and where the colorful sunsets will knock your socks off.
As light is often the key to great landscape photos, we'll be spending much of our time at the edge of light during the minutes surrounding sunrise and sunset. And during the time before the light starts getting really good, I'll help you fine tune your compositions, I'll demonstrate landscape techniques such as hyperfocal focusing, and I'll show you how to use neutral density filters for long exposures or how to expose two images for later blending in the computer (now famously referred to as HDR). I can also show you how to set up for wildlife, stitched panoramas and much more.
This is a field workshop. Most of our time will be spent in the field. Classroom and critique sessions are optional as space and time allow. All levels of photographers are welcome on this workshop, from the beginner to the seasoned pro.
I hope you’ll join us on this breathtaking photo tour!
