Yellowstone National Park in Autumn Photography Tour
About the tour
Yellowstone National Park just might be America’s most interesting natural wonder. Everywhere we go, we’ll witness and photograph impressive geysers, colorful hot springs and mud pools, giant waterfalls, flowing rivers, fall color, and of course wildlife! The Elk should be bugling and in prime shape for awesome photos.
We’ll be up close and personal with as much of the park as we can get to during this workshop. I worked in Yellowstone as a photographer for 2 summers and I am intimately familiar with the highlights of this huge park, as well as many of the lesser known places that any photographer would love to find.
Late September is the best time to be at this famous national park. Fewer people mean more pleasant photography and as always in Yellowstone, wildlife (especially bugling elk) can appear at any time, but are in their best-looking shape in September.
As light is often the key to great landscape photos, we'll be spending much of our time at the edge of light during the minutes surrounding sunrise and sunset. During the time before the light starts getting really good, I can help you fine tune your compositions, I can demonstrate landscape techniques such as hyperfocal focusing, and I’ll show you how to use graduated neutral density filters or to expose your images for later blending in the computer (now famously referred to as HDR). I can also show you how to set up for stitched panorama photos, how to properly photograph wildlife, and much more.
This is a photography tour. Most of our time will be spent in the field. Classroom and critique sessions are optional as space and time allow. I may be photographing alongside participants on this trip but I am always available to help you if you need.
All levels of photographers are welcome on my tours, from the beginner to the seasoned pro. Here's a chance to fill your portfolio with the amazing and totally unique scenes that only Yellowstone offers. Come get tons of photos that you’ll be proud to show off, while enjoying the endless beauty of one of America’s premier national parks. In your tuition, I am including 5 nights of lodging at the VERY popular (and hard to get space at ) Old Faithful area. Rooms are single (or double for couples) occupancy and include en-suite bathroom.
I hope you’ll join me on this amazing tour!
