About the 2018 tour (dates were September 11-16, 2018)
I've heard it said many times with regard to nature photography, that "bad weather equals good photography". This tour proved that the saying is true. My group and I arrived to mostly cloudy skies and a forecast that promised more of the same in the coming days. But we powered on and were witness to some of the most gorgeous displays of mountain scenery I've ever seen. We had a crazy mix of conditions where we'd be driving in sun, then it would turn cloudy, then snowy to the point of blindness, then again the sun would beam through and surprise us over and over. When the fresh snow did stick it made for a magical winter wonderland such that I've never seen before. Yes, some days we had to turn our attention to colorful macro subjects and wildlife, but that was the joy of this tour! We always managed to find something good to photograph. My group remained happily spirited, flexible to the many schedule changes and mostly warm inside because of the unique displays that nature provided for our cameras. Thank you to all the 2018 participants! All my images below were taken with a Canon 5D Mark IV and a Tamron 28-300mm lens. I am offering this tour again in September of 2019.
