About the TourFamous throughout the World for amazing mountain scenery, the Colorado Rockies are most spectacular in the San Juan Range. This workshop is based in Ouray, Colorado. Ouray is located in the heart of the San Juan Mountains and is often called “the Switzerland of America.”
Snow-capped peaks, wildflowers, high mountain lakes, cascading waterfalls, endless forests of conifer trees, and newly leafed-out aspens will all be subjects for our cameras. Of course, July is prime wildflower time, and we’ll turn our lenses towards the amazing displays of wildflowers that fill the meadows and basins at this time of year. Your Professional leader (Don Mammoser) authored and photographed the top-selling field guide to Colorado Wildflowers. We’ll have a full day when we take a professionally driven guided jeep tour to get us into the backcountry where nature’s displays of high mountains and wildflower color will blow your mind. Here's a chance to fill your portfolio with classic mountain and flower scenes that you’ll be proud to show off. The high mountain passes, flowers, ghost towns, blue skies, meadows, and views that go on forever all add-up to an awesome trip. As light is often the key to great landscape photos, we'll be spending much of our time at the edge of light during the minutes surrounding sunrise and sunset. And during the time before the light starts getting really good, I can help you fine tune your compositions, I can demonstrate landscape photography techniques such as hyperfocal focusing, and I can show you how to use graduated neutral density filters or to expose your images for later blending in the computer. I can also show you how to set up for a stitched panoramas and much more. For lodging, we'll be based out of Ouray, Colorado. All the necessary reservations for our group are made and your lodging at the hotel is covered in your tour tuition fee. All you need to do is get yourself to Ouray, Colorado on July 16th. This is a photography tour. Most of our time will be spent in the field, but we will schedule a couple of classroom and critique sessions as space and time allow. Your leader may be photographing alongside participants on this trip but I am always available to help you get better images.
All levels of photographers are welcome on this tour, from the beginner to the seasoned pro. Please join us in COLORFUL COLORADO! |
