About the tour
The birdlife in Florida is simply awesome. The birds are big, friendly and full of color. During the Spring breeding and nesting season, many spectacular species concentrate on nest building, attracting members of the opposite sex, and feeding their young- and thus they ignore people. This allows us photographers to GET CLOSE - which is a great thing when it comes to photographing birds. This tour proves popular every year - and for good reason - participants get EXCELLENT images.
We’ll travel to a variety of breeding, nesting and feeding locations, which I know intimately from the 8 years I lived in Florida. We’ll concentrate on bird photos, but there are many other subjects for our cameras in Florida as well. Huge alligators, swamp scenes, spring flowers, lizards, Everglades scenery, and colorful ocean sunsets will all be part of the trip’s photographic goals. Bird and wildlife photography is addicting and this tour will help feed your soul in that regard for awhile.
Here's your chance to fill your portfolio with awesome shots of birds in action, birds feeding, birds mating, large alligators, colorful sunsets and more. There are endless wildlife opportunities in Florida and we certainly won't run out of subjects.
We’ll be out early and late for the best light and the best bird action. I’ll help you with compositions and with the wildlife photography techniques necessary for capturing compelling images of everything we see.
This is a photography tour. Most of our time will be spent in the field. Classroom and critique sessions are optional as space and time allow. I will be photographing alongside participants on this trip but I will always be available to help you if you need.
All levels of photographers are welcome on my tours, from the beginner to the seasoned pro. While any camera can produce decent images of birds and other Florida scenes, I highly recommend a DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses and at least 300mm (500-600mm is much better) of lens power for this tour. I'll be using my Tamron 150-600mm lens almost exclusively during this tour.
I hope you’ll join us on this fun and action-packed bird and Florida wildlife photo tour.
