Don's Destination: Grenada
We recently returned from a winter trip to the Caribbean and specifically to the country of Grenada. This island nation, the southernmost of the Windward Islands, took some time to get used to but we ended up loving it. It is kind of a scrappy place which seems to straddle both older and modern times. Much of the infrastructure is decrepit yet everyone has a smartphone and wi-fi is everywhere. Every single person we met was friendly as can be, happy-go-lucky and seemed pretty darn content living on "island time". My chosen Grenada image above depicts Levera Beach in the north of the main island. I liked the palm tree shadow and of course the conical shape of Sugar Loaf Island just offshore. This beach is the second most important nesting beach for Leatherback Sea Turtles in the entire world. During the season (April-August) up to 30-40 female turtles per night come up on the sand to lay their eggs! When Anya, Siena and I return to Grenada we'll go specifically to see this wonderful nature spectacle. Click Here to read the entire newsletter.
