Wells Grey Provincial Park, Canada
Wells Grey is a large provincial park located in British Columbia about 85 miles north of Kamloops. It would make an awesome backcountry or canoe-camping destination, and some day in the future we'll do just that. This year as Anya and I passed through on our way to Banff we only had 3 days to explore and so we mainly stuck to day hikes which visited some of the numerous waterfalls of the area. There are 4 nice waterfalls within a ten to fifteen minute walk of the main road and with a bit more effort you could see and photograph many more. The image here is of Helmcken Falls. We visited this waterfall twice and this second (early morning) visit was pure magic as ethereal mist and fog moved through the area. At times the fog obscured the waterfall and then slowly it would morph into something else which revealed the flowing water behind. I highly recommend that if you ever find yourself exploring British Columbia, Canada, that you spend some time in Wells Grey.
